We have designed 100+ pressure vessels for a range of industries including: Energy, Infrastructure, Civil Nuclear, Submarines, New Build, Oil & Gas and Process Plants. We provide design services to companies that do not want to maintain an in-house capability.

Design Stress Ltd. staff have proven experience and complete knowledge of designing pressure vessels to PD 5500, ASME VIII, BS EN 13445 and BS EN 286. We possess ‘unique’ specialist design knowledge in internal agitation and transfer systems for inaccessible active vessels. We use Finglow software to aid with design calculations, and can produce AutoCAD format drawings.

Our Approach to Pressure Vessel Design

The most popular commercial software we use is Finglow software, which is used to only support our design-by-rule code calculations carried out by hand. We provide full Vessel Design Packages (VDPs) for manufacturing tender that consist of a Vessel Mechanical Datasheet (summarising all vessel design and operating conditions, duty, size, thicknesses, dimensions and empty, full and transport weights); Nozzle Schedule (nozzle sizes and positions); Supporting Design Notes (auxiliary requirements); Calculation Sheet (full breakdown of all stress hand calculations and supporting Finglow calculations); and 2D/3D AutoCAD drawings with Autodesk Inventor (c/w all welds & support details).
